Photo Challenge: Something Funny

I haven't done the photo challenge in a couple of weeks, so I need to get back at it.  This week's photo challenge is something funny.  This is a hard one since it is subjective.  I started looking through my photos until I came across one that instantly made me smile.  There is of course a short story to go with it.

My pup, Yogi got neutered last week and he was so excited to see me after having surgery and then spending a whole night in the puppy hospital.  Unfortunately for him, he had a cone awaiting his arrival when we got home that day.  I took a picture of him with his cone and he was still so happy to see me, I don't think this thing on his head really sunk in.  A few hours later when the excitement wore off, I just had to take another picture of his pathetic looking face.  There are just too many captions that come to mind when I think of what he might be thinking in this picture.  Happy Tuesday!

Photo Challenge: (cook)Books

This week's photo challenge is Books.  Now for a person that doesn't have a lot of physical (or virtual, now that I think about it) books, this one could have been challenging.  I do however, have a good collection of cookbooks.  Although these books aren't filled with stories, they are just as vaulable to me since I need a lot of direction in the kitchen.  I almost always follow a recipe when I cook and one day I hope that I can start to improvise on my own to find out what goes with what, but for now, I am very "by the book" you could say (see what I did there?)

I have a lot of vegetarian cookbooks (duh!) and even some great ones that I got for the wedding/showers.  I got a mexican cookbook from my mother-in-law.  I also got a vegetarian cookbook from Danny's grandmother which is one of the last things she gave me before she passed away this past April.  I was looking through it the other day and came across her card that came with the gift which made me miss her so much!

We also have a "Cooking with Beer" cookbook in our collection that my parents gave Danny for Christmas last year.  I need to cook a recipe out of it for him but a lot of them include meat which means I wouldn't be able to try it (bummer).  I have a lot of vegetarian cookbooks since its easier to add meat than to take out of most recipes.  Cooking is one of my favorite things to do even though Danny will tell you I haven't been in the kitchen in awhile.  Maybe this will spark a new recipe this week? Keep reading to see!

Photo Challenge: Morning Sky

Today's photo challenge is a picture of the morning sky.  Since I have to be at work at 6 am, this was what the sky looked like at around 5:55 am last week before stepping into work.  Even though I'm really tired in the mornings, I really like waking up when its still dark out and enjoying views like this.  It's also just so quiet and serene at 5 in the morning versus 8 am when everyone else is trying not to be late for work.

Happy Tuesday, I hope everyone has a great day!

Photo Challenge: Leaves

This week's photo challenge is leaves.  I wish it was autumn while writing this blogpost since one of my favorite things about autumn is the colorful leaves.  Although, this one was easy for me since our backyard is basically a forrest.  Thic picture was taken from my hammock which I love to lay in and watch the world go by.

One of the reasons why I love our house so much is because of all the surrounding trees.  We have a set of pine trees in our front yard and then an "island" of trees fills our backyard.  It's not good for the nearby pool, but they are so serene and peaceful if I'm just relaxing in the hammock on a nice summer day.  The trees also provide a ton of shade, so even if it's hot outside, it's breezy under the trees.  Danny tells me to wait until the autumn and see if I still like the trees then! I guess we will have to wait and see!

Photo Challenge: Happiness

This week I started Virtualization training for work, so I feel like I'm back at school again.  I like the break from the normal routine, but it means I have to work Monday through Friday this week which is unusual for me (I normally work Sundays through Wednesdays). This week's photo challenge is Happiness.

I've learned about happiness a lot in the last few years and what makes me truly happy.  One of the reason why I chose the blog title, "happy Wife, happy Life" is because I believe that to have a fulfilling life, you need to surround yourself with those things that make you happy.  One of the many things that makes me happy is my family.  Included in my family are my kitties and puppy dog.  We came home from a weekend at the lake and I was greeted and frankly stalked by the kitties that I hadn't seen for a couple of days.  They would not leave my side and it made me happy to know that they missed me just like I missed them.  Below is a picture of me and Teddy cuddling on the Lazy Boy.  These moments make me happy.

Teddy Bear and me.

Photo Challenge: Smile

Today is week two of my photo challenge.  This week's topic is a smile.

I apologize for the selfie, but when thinking about this week's photo challenge, I realized I don't have cute kids and my pets don't really smile, so I thought I would just go with a picture of myself.

My smile reminds me of all the pain and money it took to get it.  I had braces when I was in middle school and hated them (like every other girl at that age).  I was one of the first in my class to get them which is maybe why I hated them so much.  I also had to have an expander that my parents would crank every night to separate my two front teeth which would eventually make more room for my other teeth.  After all the pain was over, I finally was in the retainer phase.

After a few years of ignoring my retainer, my teeth started to moved back to their original places resulting in a few crooked teeth.  In college and even a year after, I was still self-conscious about my teeth and I finally decided to do something about it.  I signed up to see an orthodontist to get Invisalign.

Invisalign was great for me and my teeth.  Since I only had a few teeth out of place, I only had to have the adjusters for a 6 month period.  Now I love to smile since it took so long to have it exactly the way I wanted it!
A smile and of course my sweet cracked iPhone.

Photo Challenge: Barbecue (Chicken) Pizza

I discovered a photo challenge on Pinterest this week and decided to give it a try.  Every Tuesday I will blog the next subject on the list. The photo challenge is listed below:

This Tuesday (Day 1) is Favorite Food.  One of my favorite foods is Barbecue (Chicken) Pizza.  It's a great meal for both Danny and I because it has a fruit and a vegetable and I can make it with or without chicken.  I, of course like it without chicken.

Since this pizza is so easy to make, it is one of our go-to meals during the week.  Below is the recipe.

To make one pizza you will need:

1 whole wheat pita
sliced red onion
pineapple chunks
cheddar cheese
barbecue sauce
chicken (optional)
Spread barbecue sauce on pita.  Add pineapple and onions.  Next add cheese.  Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until pizza is hot and cheese is melted.

Happy Tuesday!
