Autumn Date

The hubs and I are always trying to plan date nights for each other.  I was the lucky one last week and Danny planned a date night around me.  It makes me feel special when my husband picks out special things that I like to do, but I also love planning date nights too.  I stumbled across Elizabeth at Army Ever After and Stephanie from Real Army Wife.  They have a link up called Autumn on my Mind and today's prompt is about the perfect Fall date.  I thought I would borrow their link up to plan my next date night with my husband!

One of our engagement photos taken during the Fall last year.
Fall is my favorite time of the year and Danny and I have not taken full advantage of it yet!  I love the changing leaves, cool weather, and sports that are associated with Fall.  Danny loves all that and the Fall beers that stock the shelves in our local supermarket come August.  I wanted to plan a date night around all of things we like about fall and this time of year.

That's a lot of fall beer
I received a picnic basket from my Aunt and Uncle for the wedding and I have since then wanted to go on a picnic in the park near our house.  What better way to enjoy the nice weather and the beautiful scenery than a picnic before it starts to snow?  I can pack sandwiches and treats for us to eat and I can bring a football or baseball and we can play catch in the park.  I grew up throwing a ball with my dad in our front yard and enjoy playing catch when the weather's nice.

Afterwards, we can end the date with a beer (or two) at Willoughby Brewery Company.  It is one of our favorite restaurants and a hometown brewery that brews some delicious tasting beers.  We have been waiting for their fall beer to come out which we have never tried.  We've heard it's so good, they sell out within weeks due to the popularity.  It's supposed to be available early October, so hopefully we can try it.

That's all I have for my autumn date day/night.  Hopefully I can convince Danny to go on our autumn date day in the next few weeks! We need to get it in before it starts to snow here in Cleveland.  I seriously wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't the first time it's snowed in early October.

Happy Fall, Friends! Enjoy the season!

A Putt Putt Date Night

This past Friday, Danny and I had a date night!  Since I was in training this week until Friday and I had to work my normal schedule on Sunday, I didn't really have a weekend, so we made the best of it.  We started out with dinner at Claddah's Irish Pub.  Its one of our favorite places since it's where we first met each other in January of 2012.  They have an amazing veggie burger made out of spinach and feta cheese, it is so good!

After dinner we decided we didn't want to go home yet, so we thought of things to do.  I had purchased a groupon a few months ago for a putt putt course, so we decided to try it out.  Danny loves to putt putt and has been "golfing" (virtually on the xbox) lately.  I even tried to plan a date night last year at a putt putt place, however once we got there, it was an empty, abandoned lot that looked like it had been closed for awhile! So, putt putt golfing was WAY overdue for us.  Plus, Danny and I are both really competitive, so we wanted to see who would win in a putt putt match.

The Golf Dome was really nice and a very popular place on a Friday night for high school kids and families.  We played two full games and ended up tying the first game and then I lost the second game.  We will have to have a rematch sometime soon so I can beat him, I came so close the first game!

On Saturday morning, Danny and I finally got to sleep in which always makes the days go by faster.  We ran a few errands at the mall including stocking up on my favorite stores like, Lush!

Lush is a line of fresh, homemade cosmetics and I especially love lush for their face wash and facial cleansers.  I learned about Lush about a year ago when I got a facial.  The technician said I should check them out for all different skin types.  As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by a friendly worker who started narrowing down what type of face wash I should use.  She tried many things right there in the store by seeing what went best with the skin on my hands.  I now use these products everyday and love them! They also have the most amazing masks made with all organic ingredients.  These have to be refrigerated and last up to a few weeks. I love lush because it is all natural and they don't believe in testing their products on animals which makes me like them even more.

After checking out the mall (which we hadn't been in it seemed like ages!), we headed to Applebees for a linner (lunch and dinner) meal.  I ended up trying their amazing Berry Spinach Salad which was so good! It had blue cheese and caramelized pecans on it too which made it extra yummy!

Upon arriving home on Saturday, Danny and I decided to have a movie night.  I chose one movie and he chose another movie for me to watch, both that the other had not seen before.  My choice was Burn After Reading which is hilarious and twisted on so many levels and Danny seemed to like it (I think he was just glad I didn't pick a chick flick starring Katherine Hiegl).  Then we ended the evening with The Prestige which I had never seen before and I thought it was AMAZING!! I couldn't believe all the interesting plot twists in this movie and how it made you think.  Overall, very intriguing and I can't wait to see it again.  The Prestige was written by Christopher Nolan who also wrote the screenplays for Inception, The Dark Knight, and The Dark Knight Rises.

All together it was a nice, short weekend enjoying time with my husband.

Hope you had a great weekend!

12.12.12

Today is 12.12.12.  This is a really neat concept.  To the average person this might not mean anything, but to me, I love number sequences.  Today marks the last time in our lifetime that we will experience a three digit combination like this.

Danny and I are getting married on March 16, 2013.  We didn't choose the date specifically because of it, but it is a palindrome of numbers (31613).  I actually stumbled across a wedding website that had upcoming unique number combinations as the dates for brides that wanted to be married on a special day.  My brother and his wife were married in 2007 and I recall that this was a big year for couples to get married on 07/07/07 since it landed on a Saturday.  They decided to be different and get married the week after on 07/15/07.

I am a very logical thinking person.  I love numbers.  I was always good at math in school and it was part of the reason why I wanted to become an Accountant when I was little because I liked to add and subtract numbers and saw different patterns within them.  Even though I'm not an Accountant today, I still work with numbers and sequences in my everyday job as an IT analyst.

There is also a pattern of dates in my family.  My close family has four members and we all have the number 3 in the day we were born.

Mom- May 3
Brother- December 13
Me- April 23
Dad- October 30

My sister-in-law felt left out when she joined the family that she was really excited when Danny didn't have a 3 in his birthday either.  What's even crazier is my niece was born on May 23rd and oddly enough my nephew's due date is December 23rd.  I hope he stays true to the day so he can go along with tradition, although I think my sister-in-law is secretly hoping he is born on a different day!
